Sunday Evening Whiskey Club

Jan 25 2010

1.24.2010 Meeting @ Alembic

Minutes for Sunday Evening Whiskey Club: January 24, 2010
Attendees: Shirley, Rosie, Helen, Hectorine, & Olga (tardy: Ingeborge)

Highlights:
- Our first selection of location was open & had seating available.  Already step up from fist meeting.
- Pleasant waitress with beautiful arm tattoo that we will introduce to Steve so they can have a kick-ass wedding that will include lots of bourbon and shout-outs to the SEWC for introducing them.
- Full agreement that blog should be created.  They seem popular to the young kiddies, and we at SEWC want to reach that 10-13 yr demographic that seems to be untapped by the whiskey media.
- First time tasting pickled quail eggs.  Hot pink deliciousness.
- Cheese plate. Calcium deliciousness.
- Talk of getting SEWC blazers and pipes/cigars.  Shirley & Olga have already started supporting dress code.
- Post neat glass of Sazerac, each enjoyed a whiskey cocktail: Blood & Sand, Vasco da Gama, and The Vieux Carre.  Favorites varied, but all received a resounding SEWC high approval.
- Hectorine suggested a secret “handshake” that was rejected, although definitely something that would have ensured we remain an all-ladies club.
- After club trip to new Mission Rosamunde.  Yum. Next time will skip cups of condiments and instead just hold head below giant tubs of wasabi mustard & curry ketchup.  Shirley had issues with sausage to bun size.

Whiskey Tasted:
1. Amercian Rye: Sazerac

Follow-Ups:
- Who married Joan from Mad Men in real life and how does he breathe?  You know what we mean.
- Sunday Evening Whiskey Club to come up with club “question”
- Once ducks choose which door of sperm to open, what happens to the other houses of sperm?  See “Lessons” - not for explanation on these questions, but for increase of confusion about this topic.
- Hectorine came up with the brilliant idea for everyone to drink as much as possible in order to build up our tolerance so we can handle the fact we are drinking all day Saturday and still need to attend SEWC the next day.  Annnnddd go.

Lessons:
- Ducks are weird.  Ducks are skanky.
- Mahi-mahi couples are the romeo & juliet of the aquatic world.
- Brette (Alembic waitress) suggested that due to their smokey, earthy flavor, to have scotch with rich, savory desserts like chocolate.  Note to choose location where dessert is served when we try scotches.
